GENERAL APPEARANCE:
A cheerful, sturdy sporting dog; harmonious, compact, square in shape (the distance from the withers to the ground is approximately the same as from the withers to the base of the tail).
BEHAVIOR / TEMPERAMENT:
The typical, lively movement and the always joyfully carried tail reflect the dog's joyful nature, especially when it is working. Gentle and affectionate, full of life and vigor.
HEAD:
Skull:
Skull: Well developed, cleanly chiseled, neither too delicate nor too strong.
Stop: Clear, located halfway between the tip of the nose and the occipital tumor.
Craniofacial:
Nose: Wide enough for a good job.
Muzzle: Square.
Jaws / Teeth: Strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. the upper incisors cover and are in close contact with the lower incisors and are well seated in the jaws.
Cheeks: Not prominent.
Eyes: Full but not prominent. Dark brown or brown, never pale in the case of chocolate, chocolate with a sieve and chocolate-white, dark nut in harmony with the color; intelligent and gentle in expression, and at the same time alert, quick-witted and cheerful; close fitting eyelids.
Ears: Lobed, set low - at eye level. Pulled forward, they reach the edge of the nose. Well covered with long, straight and silky hair.
NECK:
Medium length, muscular. Set in well angulated shoulder blades. No dewlap.
TORSO:
Strong, compact.
Ridge: Strong, horizontal, slightly sloping from the loin to the base of the tail.
Loins: Short and wide.
Chest: Well developed, deep; Seen from the front, neither too wide nor too narrow. Ribs well sprung.
TAIL:
Set on slightly below the back line. When in motion, it is cheerfully carried horizontally, never lifted up. Customarily truncated (copied).
Copied: Never too short (invisible) or too long to disturb, when working in constant motion.
Not copied: Slightly curved, of moderate length, in proportion, creating an overall harmony; reaching the ankle joint. Strong at the root, tapering towards the end; well
hairy (with "feather") in proportion to the total hair. Lively in motion, carried horizontally, never above the topline, and never tucked shyly.
LIMBS:
FOREQUARTERS:
Legs well boned, straight, and reasonably short for strength. Not too short to interfere with the enormous effort required of this great hunting dog.
Shoulders: Slanted, thin.
HINDQUARTERS:
Rump: wide, well rounded, well muscled. Strong skeleton.
Knee joints: Well angulated.
Ankle joints: Metatarsus short below the ankle, giving good driving force.
Paws: Compact, with thick pads, catlike
WALK:
Casual, with good stride.
HAIR COAT:
Hair: Smooth, silky, never coarse or wavy, not too abundant, never curly. Well hairy forelegs, torso and hind legs above the hocks.
Color: Diverse. In single-colored dogs, white is allowed only on the chest (forechest).
HEIGHT AND WEIGHT:
Height Approx: Males 39 - 41 cm (15.5 - 16 inches) Females 38 - 39 cm (15 - 15.5 inches)
Weight approx .: 12.5 - 14 kg (28-32 lb)
DEFECTS:
Any deviation from the above pattern should be treated as defects that reduce the score depending on their severity. Dogs showing visible physical or mental defects must be disqualified.
ATTENTION:
Male animals should have two properly developed testicles fully seated in the scrotum
